Another very spectacular achievement was recorded by Nobles International Secondary School on Thursday 18th May, 2023 when 2 of our very brilliant students, each of them 14 years of age participated in the finals of an international competition, the 2023 Nigerian Stockholm Junior Water Prize Finals and took the 2nd position out of over 2,000 Secondary Schools from across the 36 States of Nigeria that took part in the competition.
The contest which was held at the Embassy of Sweden Complex, Abuja had as it’s topic: “Filtration of waste water and treating it to be drinkable using local materials”.
Dr. Brownson Nditoi, the principal of Nobles International Secondary School, praised the students for their dedication and ingenuity. “We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding achievement. Their project not only demonstrates their scientific prowess but also their commitment to solving real-world problems. This award is a testament to the quality of education and the spirit of innovation we foster at Nobles International Secondary School,” he said.
The Nigerian Stockholm Junior Water Prize is part of an international competition that encourages young people to engage in water-related research projects. The competition aims to raise awareness about water issues and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers to develop sustainable solutions.
The students’ project was selected from a pool of over 2,000 entries from secondary schools across Nigeria. The judging panel, consisting of experts in water science and environmental engineering, commended the team for their creative approach and the potential impact of their solution.
The winning students expressed their excitement and gratitude for the recognition. “Winning this award is a dream come true for us. We are passionate about making a difference in our community, and this project has given us the opportunity to contribute to solving one of the most pressing issues in Nigeria. We hope our work will inspire others to take action and innovate for a better future”.
